La musique en Suisse began publication in 1901. The journal was published by Delachaux & Niestlé and W. Sandoz in Neuchâtel, and came out on the 1st and 15th of each month. The editor-in-chief, Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, was joined in the second year by Henri Marteau, who became co-editor-in-chief.
The publication of La musique en Suisse was taken over from the third year onwards by Säuberlin & Pfeiffer in Vevey, but the same editors-in-chief continued until the last issue on 30 June 1904.
The magazine aimed to keep the public informed of musical events on a national level, and was intended to be the French-speaking counterpart of the Schweizerische Musikzeitung.
