HBradio is the official publication of the Union of Swiss Shortwave Amateurs. It is published six times a year and is the only amateur radio journal in Switzerland. In the early days of the USKA, radio amateurs regularly published articles in the Schweizerische Radio-Zeitung under the title «Old Man». In 1932, Old Man appeared for the first time as an independent journal with a trial issue. Since 2008, it has been called HBradio.
As a member magazine, HBradio reflects the associations life of the USKA. It offers reports and technical articles on all aspects of amateur radio, as well as reports and results from radio competitions.
Founded in 1929, the Union of Swiss Shortwave Amateurs is the national umbrella organisation for Swiss radio amateurs. Its aim is to promote amateur radio on all frequency bands allocated to it and in all approved modes of transmission.
