Le Conteur vaudois, which after a number of title changes became Le Conteur romand, was founded by Louis Monnet and Henri Renou with the aim to cover national history and literature, and to recount discoveries and experiences that could contribute to the development of agriculture and industry in the canton. It contains numerous anecdotes and stories in local dialect. Vaudois writers, clergymen and intellectuals, such as Alfred Cérésole or Louis Favrat, contributed to it. Lacking sufficient subscribers, it ceased publication in 1968.
