Centrum Jahrbuch Architektur und Stadt was founded by Peter Neitzke and Carl Steckeweh. Reinhart Wustlich joined as the third editor in 1996. Between 1992 and 2005, the trio published twelve yearbooks. The 2003-2004 edition was not published.
Centrum is much more than a collection of buildings and projects. With a strong socio-political commitment, the international authors addressed current debates on cities and urban planning. Centrum provided a platform for critical discussion of issues relating to contemporary architecture. Many articles and focus topics are still highly relevant today (e.g. Gerhard Schmitt's article 'Architecture and Artificial Intelligence' from 1992) and are of great interest to both experts and the interested public.
