DOI

Use of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) allows stable, worldwide unique and location-independent referencing of electronic documents and thereby affords citation reliability even in view of a variable Uniform Resource Locator (URL). DOIs are accordingly suited for permanently secured citations in academic work.

DOIs cannot be directly accessed in the browser, but are translated into URLs by means of a resolving service. The persistent resolution of this link is provided here by the International DOI Foundation (IDF).
