The music magazine New Life Soundmagazine was founded in 1983 as a Depeche Mode fanzine. The editorial team initially consisted of Sebastian Koch, René Gastl, Bruno Klingler and Gabi Achermann, who had previously founded the Swiss Depeche Mode Fan Club. The thematic focus of the magazine was on the genres of Electropop, Electro Wave, Post-Industrial, Electronic Body Music and New Beat. In the mid-1980s, the magazine increasingly developed into an important medium for the electronic, wave and independent movement. From 1989, in addition to the Swiss editorial office, there was one in Germany and one in Sweden. The last Swiss issue was published in April 1990, after which the publication of the magazine was unexpectedly discontinued.
From 1992, New Life Soundmagazine was revitalised in Germany and quickly became the mouthpiece of the electro scene. With the emergence of comparable magazines, New Life was increasingly displaced and finally ceased publication at the end of the decade.
