The Swiss Observer was first published in May 1920 at Garlick Hill, London E.C. 4 by Mr. P.F. Boehringer. It was established to strengthen the existing Swiss societies in the Swiss community by giving their reports and announcements a publicity they would have been unable to obtain otherwise. The paper kept the Swiss colony up-to-date on current political and economic events in Switzerland by printing extracts from both Swiss and English Newspapers. The Articles were written in English, Italian, French and German to accommodate the varied linguistic needs of the Swiss and British club members and the paper was published at first fortnightly, and then weekly.
