The Zappelnde Leinwand, which was published from1920 onwards, was the first Swiss film magazine to be not just an in-house publication for one cinema but to appeal to a broad audience. Produced by a short-lived small publishing house, this irregularly appearing magazine was renamed in 1924 Schweizer illustrierte Filmwoche. It ceased publication after seven years. The magazine contained information on international filmmaking, articles about film stars, went behind-the-scenes in the film studios, provided news about current productions, as well as chatty articles and fashion tips. Sometimes texts were taken from the German film press.
