Mitteilungen der Naturforschenden Gesellschaft in Bern

The Bulletin of the Natural Sciences Society of Berne contains scientific articles, presentations of selected lectures cycles, annual reports from the Scientific Research Society and the Environmental Protection Agency, session papers of the Bernese Botanical Society, and further information.

The Scientific Research Society was founded during the Age of Enlightenment as a visible sign for the growing interest in the budding natural sciences. With Samuel Wyttenbach, pastor at the Church of the Holy Spirit, as prime mover, several like-minded persons assembled on December 18, 1786, and banded together in the Privatgesellschaft naturforschender Freunde in Bern. From then on, they regularly met in order to impart and discuss new scientific findings. Today's Scientific Research Society is a registered society according to article 60ff ZGB domiciled in Berne, and a regional branch of the Swiss Academy of Sciences SCNAT.
