INTERNATIONAL REVIEW - Gegründet 1899
Offizielle Zeitschrift der Internationalen Kommission von L'Enseignement Mathématique.

Eine der kennzeichnenden Eigenschaften der Zeitschrift von Anfang an war eine Reihe von Artikeln über den Unterricht der Mathematik in den verschiedenen Ländern. Der Ehrgeiz der Internationalität der Zeitschrift führte soweit, dass sogar Artikeln und Chroniken in Esperanto veröffentlicht wurden. Auch erwähnt werden sollen hier veröffentlichte Texte über die soziale Rolle der Wissenschaft und eine grosse Untersuchung über die Arbeitsmethode der Mathematiker. Im Stil, der dieser Zeit eigen war, erklären die Gründer (in der Adresse an den Leser von 1904), "ein universelles wissenschaftliches Instrument des Fortschritts, der brüderlichen Solidarität" gebaut zu haben und fügen auch ganz bescheiden hinzu:

«Während der fünf Jahre, die seit der Schaffung dieser Zeitschrift vergangen sind, haben wir die Gewissheit erlangt, dass sie nützlich war.»

Eine Präzisierung der Direktoren von 1904:

«Das Wort "Unterricht" hat für uns die breiteste Bedeutung. Gemeint ist sowohl der Unterricht der Schüler als auch der Unterricht der Professoren. Und im Übrigen geht das eine ohne das andere nicht.»

ist heute noch aktuell.
